Job summaryAn exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Procurement Team at Shropshire Healthcare Procurement Service as a Assistant Procurement Manager. The role will be either a Band 6 or Band 7 dependent upon experience and qualifications, and we are happy to develop the right person. You will report to the Senior Procurement Manager and form part of the strategic procurement team responsible for delivering a professional procurement service, managing a portfolio of contracts and achieving significant efficiencies for the organisations we work on behalf of. The post holder will be expected to provide professional procurement advice, and to lead the procurement process to deliver best value all in accordance with the attached JD & PS. Main duties of the job The post holder will be expected to provide professional procurement advice and support and to lead the procurement process in delivering best value and service to the Trust(s) To develop and manage a portfolio of contracts and support its renewal strategy. To strategically manage non-pay expenditure within the respective division and actively identify and deliver areas of efficiencies which include savings. The role may involve leading / managing a team and the post holder will assist in developing the team's skills and capability to meet internally & externally set performance management targets, i.e. savings, contract coverage and customer satisfaction. The postholder will develop their own skills and experience through on the job and associated training courses. The post holder will need to work across Trust divisions / Trusts and collaborate across the ICS where necessary to deliver mutual benefits and efficiencies. Corporate Membership of the Institute of Purchasing & Supply or equivalent experience is required or willingness to work towards Desirable Project management experience/qualification. Knowledge Essential Understanding of operational requirements of purchasing and supply Experience of working in procurement within the NHS or comparable experience Understanding of strategic purchasing and supply chain management Desirable Experience of working within large multi discipline organisation Person Specification Qualifications Essential Procurement experience to include UK Procurement Directives, Negotiation, developed through short courses, self-experience & self-study.
