Senior Engineer

Job Title: Senior Engineer - Electrical Engineering (Control & Instrumentation)Location: Barrow-in-Furness - Hybrid (2 days onsite per fortnight dependent on business needs)Salary: Competitive (Commensurate with skills and experience)What you'll be doing:Develop and manage requirements and acceptance criteria specific to a system or product and/or across a system of systems, platform or programmeUnderstand the contractual and performance requirements for various systems, and support the definition and associated acceptance criteria and events through design, build, integration, installation and commissioning activitiesProduce documentation required to support the design review process, including: diagrams; technical specifications; supporting calculations; design evidence and justificationsReview relevant supplier documentation, technical manuals, electrical schematics, general arrangements, Interface specification and ensure it is captured and recorded appropriatelyEnsure design proving evidence is comprehensive, captured within the requirements management tools and has been endorsed by the appropriate level of authorityEnsure compliance against contractual requirements and that work is undertaken in accordance with company, safety, environmental, contractual and local business processes, standards, procedures and documentationUndertake design reviews and presentations to customersProvide technical support to integrated performance and acceptance activities, including acceptance of equipment from suppliers through to system acceptance by the customerProvide support to the Certificate of Design activities appropriate to the discipline and articulate and present complex technical argument clearly, logically and simplyDeliver technical input and engineering solutions in support of build activities, defect resolution and change management Your skills and experiences:BEng (Hons) / MEng or equivalentWorking towards professional registrationTechnical report writing skillsDemonstrable experience of engineering lifecycleKnowledge and experience in defence standards whilst not essential would be an advantageSystem calculations, modelling and analysisUnderstanding of at least one of the following areas:Instrumentation and control system theory including PID control,Electrical circuits design, EMC precautions and power supply characteristicsSafety Integrity Levels and BS EN 61508 or 61511 Control panel detail designFieldbus technology (Profibus/Profinet)BenefitsAs well as a competitive pension scheme, BAE Systems also offers employee share plans, an extensive range of flexible discounted health, wellbeing and lifestyle benefits, including a green car scheme, private health plans and shopping discounts - you may also be eligible for an annual incentive.The Centralised Control and Instrumentation Team:An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Senior Engineer -Electrical Engineering (Control and Instrumentation) working within the Centralised Control and Instrumentation Team. This role will be working on the SSNA program and the next generation submarine design.The Senior Engineer shall provide support to the Principal Engineers and/or external specialists during development, analysis, integration and verification of platform control and instrumentation systems.
