Senior Engineering Manager

Edinburgh / Remote

c£100-125k plus package

North Scout are working with a fast-growing organisation based in Edinburgh, who are building on their reputation for delivering complex, business-critical cloud programmes for enterprise clients. With an expanding portfolio of work and a maturing engineering function, they're now hiring a Senior Engineering Manager to take ownership of people leadership, delivery oversight and executive-level communication across a 40+ person engineering group.

This is a senior, largely hands-off role where you'll partner closely with C-Level stakeholders and Principal Engineers. You'll bring clarity, consistency and direction across multiple project streams, ensuring teams are supported, clients are informed and delivery keeps moving at pace.

What you'll be doing:

  • Leading, mentoring and line-managing multiple Lead and Principal Engineers, helping them develop, grow and deliver at a high level.
  • Acting as the key bridge between engineering and the C-Suite, providing clear updates, escalating risks early and supporting strategic decision-making.
  • Overseeing engineering delivery across several concurrent cloud programmes, ensuring teams stay aligned and clients feel supported throughout.
  • Driving communication standards, from internal project updates to client-facing sessions, creating a culture of transparency and collaboration.
  • Supporting people-focused initiatives: performance, wellbeing, career progression and team structure.
  • Helping shape engineering practices and ways of working as the organisation continues to scale.

What we're looking for:

  • A strong background in Cloud and modern Engineering, ideally with fairly recent hands-on experience earlier.
  • Experience leading larger engineering groups or multiple squads through other senior leaders.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to operate confidently with C-Level, clients and senior technical stakeholders.
  • A steady hand for people leadership, mentoring, coaching and supporting engineers of all levels.
  • A delivery mindset: able to maintain momentum, unblock issues and keep programmes moving in the right direction.

Our client may be remote-first, but their roots are in Edinburgh, and they place real value on the ability to bring people together when needed. Local candidates will be prioritised.
