Junior Procurement OfficerApplication Deadline: 5 December 2025Department: ProcurementEmployment Type: TemporaryLocation: EP Lynemouth Power StationReporting To: Head of ProcurementDescriptionAn opportunity has arisen to recruit a Junior Procurement Officer to join our Central Procurement team. This will be an interim position for up to 12 months and will be based at Lynemouth Power Station. The role is primarily site-based, five days per week, with occasional hybrid working available by agreement. The successful candidate will work closely with members of the Procurement team and the wider business. The Junior Procurement Officer will work to ensure that value is maximised from third party contracts, whilst minimising risk and operating in a framework of EP policies and processes. They will also manage supplier relationships and terms contracts whilst co-ordinating with multiple stakeholders to ensure a consistent and collaborative approach.Please note: the successful candidate will be introduced and employed via an approved recruitment agency. For further details, please email central.recruitment@epuki.co.uk quoting the job title for the role.Key ResponsibilitiesReporting to the Head of Procurement, the key responsibilities and duties include:Working with the business and Procurement Officers to source and procure a wide range of required goods and services, ensuring optimal value for money within defined service and quality criteria. Ensuring that EPUKI procurement processes are followed to seek and evaluate competitive tenders and proposals for the supply of goods and service, including negotiating with suppliers on all commercial and contractual matters to achieve optimal levels of value versus risk. Identifying opportunities to add improvements to the "bottom line" through cost savings or process change, whilst promoting continual improvement in all aspects of the Procurement function. Managing supplier relationships and term contracts, whilst co-ordinating multiple stakeholder interfaces across EPUKI to ensure a consistent and collaborative approach.Identifying and implementing supplier improvement actions, managing 360-feedback processes, resolving contractual and supplier disputes, and adhering to all company and departmental standards, policies, and procedures.Developing and maintaining strong and positive working relationships with internal stakeholders, ensuring that requirements are understood and addressed, whilst seeking to promote the Procurement function as a positive enabler and an integral partner to the EPUKI business. Operating and maintaining required systems to support and improve the Procurement function. Working closely with the HSEQ teams to ensure that the EPUKI supply chain is safe and delivers quality goods and services. Undertaking other procurement and supply chain tasks that are required from time to time.Skills, Knowledge and ExpertiseBackgroundSome working experience procurement or supply chain experience in comparable level role (essential).Awareness of e-tendering systems (essential).Basic knowledge of procurement life cycle and value creation through negotiation and contract delivery (essential).Basic understanding of procurement principles, general and contract law (desirable).Basic awareness of legislation which may impact Procurement (desirable).Experience of IFS or equivalent ERP system (desirable).BehavioursPro-active, flexible, resilient and motivated with the ability to see things through to completion.Proven analytical skills including the ability to gather, interpret and summarise effectively complex data.Good influencing, communication and relationship management skills.Ability to recognise opportunities and work with stakeholders and peers to deliver.Ability to work with Procurement Officers to project manage initiatives, tracking and ensuring delivery against key milestones.Strong administration and organisation skills.Ability to identify commercial and contract risks and seek guidance on how to manage appropriately.Competent IT/IS skills (e.g. MS Office).QualificationsGCSE (level 5 or above) or A levels (grade C or above) in Maths & English (essential).Qualified to degree level, or equivalent in a relative discipline (desirable).CIPS qualified at a minimum Level 4 (desirable).
