We welcome the challenge to work in new ways and have trust in you when getting the job done because we recognise, our business is our people.Job DescriptionUltra Precision Control Systems (PCS) is looking for a Lead Engineer to support the development of the next generation of critical control and data processing products.You will be the primary day-to-day lead, undertaking hands-on technical work as well as supervising the technical activities of other engineers working on the project. Working alongside the Project Manager, together you will be responsible for delivering the programme on cost, on schedule and on quality through its lifecycle.The development of the products in this portfolio is primarily made up of engineering effort from the software, electronics and systems engineering disciplines. This role would suit an engineer with a background in Systems, Electronics or Software Engineering who is currently leading a multi-disciplinary team. To succeed in this role, candidates will have previous experience developing engineering solutions on ARP4754/DO-178/DO-254 programmes, preferably at the highest DAL level.Key Responsibilities:Lead a multi-disciplinary team to deliver the engineering developmentBalance the competing demands and requirements, assessing customer requirements, and prioritizing workload as requiredHave a wide understanding of electronics, software, systems and mechanical disciplinesPlan, co-ordinate and present at design reviewsInteraction with non-engineering supporting functionsSupport customer, partner and strategic supplier meetingsAuthor key project documents, including Engineering Development Plans, and Declarations of PerformanceRegularly present project status to the Project Engineering Team Leader and Head of EngineeringMaintain awareness of Ultra's products within the competitive landscapeExpectations, Background and Understanding: Degree educated in an engineering or science disciplineExperience within one of the following disciplines: project lead, systems, software or electronics engineeringExperience of designing and testing to military environmental standardsAbility to succeed in a fast-paced and agile environmentCapable of managing and prioritising multiple project streams each with their own customer and development objectivesExperience of safety critical solution development in accordance with DO-178/DO-254 and ARP4754Desirable Skills:Experience of leading complex projects with substantial software, electronics and systems engineering elementsBackground in Defence or Aerospace industriesExperience in electronic architecture developmentExperience of relevant UK Land vehicle Defence Standards such as DEF STAN 59-411, DEF STAN 61-05, DEF STAN 00-35Previous involvement in SOI audits and certification reviewsExperience of DOORS Requirements Management toolBenefits:Every employee is critical to our success and as such we offer a range of flexible employee benefits along with career development opportunities.Flexible working within core working hours25 days holiday (185 hrs) with the option to buy/sell 5 days (37 hrs) plus bank holidays.4 times your annual salary in life assuranceFlexible benefits packagePension Scheme - Less than 5 years' service up to 5.5% employer contributions, 5 years' service + up to 7.5% employer contributions.
