Job DescriptionAdecco is recruiting for a Homelessness Intervention and Prevention Officer on behalf of our client, a local authority in South London. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference by supporting vulnerable individuals and preventing homelessness as part of a hospital-based pilot project.About the RoleYou will work within the Housing Needs Service, embedded in a local hospital setting, to reduce unsafe discharges, unnecessary admissions, and repeat attendances at the Emergency Department for people experiencing homelessness or housing insecurity.This is a temporary role to 31st March 2026. There may be a possibility of an extension. Homelessness Intervention and Prevention Officer Public Sector - Local AuthorityFull Time - Monday to Saturday 9-5pm (working every other Saturday on a Rota) However, there is possible flexibility.Temporary Role - currently to 31st March 2026Grade 9 - £22.41 per hour PAYE / £29.72 per hour UmbrellaHybrid Working - 2 days per week in Croydon Office, 2 days per week in Croydon University Hospital, remainder at homeASAP Start Key Responsibilities:Act as the first point of contact for patients with housing issues in the Emergency Department.Provide tailored housing advice, support, and sustainable solutions to prevent homelessness.Carry out homelessness assessments and make legally sound decisions under housing legislation.Develop personalised housing plans and work with multiple agencies to deliver long-term results.Use prevention tools and funds to help residents remain in their homes.Collaborate with internal teams, landlords, and external partners to provide effective housing pathways.Participate in a rota to cover alternate Saturdays. About You:We are looking for someone with:Strong knowledge of homelessness legislation, prevention initiatives, and housing law.Experience in housing, homelessness prevention, or a related customer-focused service.Ability to manage complex caseloads in a fast-paced, target-driven environment.Excellent negotiation, problem-solving, and communication skills.Ability to work flexibly and creatively.Ideally, experience of working in a hospital environment.
