Closing Date2025-10-17Job Title: Technical Project Coordinator – Water NetworksLocation: Sussex, Hampshire or KentSalary: up to £40,000 depending on experienceSouthern Water is seeking a skilled and proactive Technical Project Coordinator to lead the delivery of reactive and planned maintenance works across our trunk mains network. This role is central to ensuring water quality, asset reliability, and regulatory compliance—while driving cost efficiency and minimising customer impact.Role OverviewAs Technical Project Coordinator, you'll coordinate site activities, manage contractor performance, and ensure that all works (from valve maintenance to water quality improvements) are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with Southern Water's standards. You'll be the operational lead for reactive capital projects, working closely with internal teams and external partners to maximise asset availability and reduce leakage.Key ResponsibilitiesLead delivery of reactive and planned maintenance works directly managed capital expenditureConduct condition assessments and ensure valves and air valves meet operational standardsCollaborate with Asset Maintenance teams and contractors for risk-based maintenanceEvaluate and prioritise proposed works based on necessity and strategic impactMonitor progress, mitigate delays, and ensure delivery to specificationGovern work and purchase orders, ensuring budget alignment and proper authorisationResolve contractor issues and manage project risks from initiation to completionProvide accurate reporting to stakeholders and regulatorsDrive cost savings across operational and capital budgetsWhat You'll BringTechnical & Industry ExpertiseExperience in the utility sector, ideally water or infrastructureStrong knowledge of construction practices and contractor managementFamiliarity with NEC contracts and maintenance delivery modelsProject & Financial AcumenCertification in Project Management (APM, PRINCE2) or Engineering (HNC, NVQ) would be beneficial but not essential Proven ability to manage budgets, schedules, and project scopeFinancially aware with a track record of delivering cost-effective solutionsRegulatory & Operational InsightUnderstanding of water industry regulations and health & safety legislationExperience managing reactive works and asset-specific challengesProblem Solving & LeadershipResilient and proactive in resolving complex delivery issuesStrong judgement in balancing safety, cost, and customer impactAbility to influence contractor behaviour and drive continuous improvementCommunication & CollaborationExcellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skillsAbility to engage effectively with contractors, Field Performance Managers, and internal teamsWhy Join Southern Water?We're committed to delivering water for life.
