Job DescriptionOur Property department is a vital part of the Society's core operations and is the team is responsible for the overall Property strategy and for providing accommodation, physical security, health and safety, and facilities management, across the business. They are also responsible for maintaining and developing the property real estate, through acquisition and disposals, lifecycle asset management, building refurbishments, repairs and maintenance.The team are now looking for a Senior Specialist Mechanical and Electrical Engineer to join them to not only to look after BAU activities, but also to support our exciting Group transformation and ESG roadmap.The person in role will be responsible for the identification, planning, costing and third-party management of the Society's mechanical and electrical services and associated projects works as well as being a ccountable for all repairs, maintenance and project works carried out in a compliant way, with all relevant legislative and regulatory requirements adhered to.They will be able to deliver to specification, on time and within budget, respond to emergency or changing needs of the Society as required and be a subject matter expert to give advice and support in managing suppliers to SLA's.Benefits: 28 days holiday a year plus bank holidays and a holiday buy/sell scheme Annual discretionary bonus scheme Personal pension with matched contributions Maternity, paternity and shared parental leave Extensive wellbeing support Life assurance (6 times annual salary) Find out more about the fantastic benefits of joining Coventry Building Society hereThis role can be based from either our Head Office campus in Coventry or our Manchester office but will also need to be able to travel and visit any of our properties nationally . A team-led hybrid working arrangement is in place.About youFor this opportunity you'll already be an experienced Building Surveyor with project management experience. You'll have a track record of defect diagnosis, successfully delivering capital projects, implementing Planned Preventative Maintenance works and Reactive Repairs, while mitigating risk, controlling costs, and reducing the environmental impact of all that we do.To be successful in this role it's essential you have:• MRICS Chartered Building Surveying Degree and a Member of the Association of Project Safety• Worked in commercial environments with knowledge in Landlord & Tenant law, statutory compliance and planned preventative maintenance• Knowledge of building construction (methods and materials) and defect diagnosis and emerging technologies.• Experience of planning process, building regulation legislation and compliance matters• Good knowledge of Construction (Design and Management) Regulations• Good working knowledge of health & safety, fire, asbestos & other contributing factors• Understanding of basic Mechanical and Electrical Services• Ability of managing and influencing a range internal and external stakeholders at different levels of seniority• Ability of working with third party professionals and suppliers.Desirable experience will be:• Previous experience of commercial surveying practice / consultancy with (desired)• Financial servicesAbout usWe're one of the largest building societies in the UK and we share a mutual goal across our branches and our offices to improve the lives of others.We're officially recognised as a 'Great Place to Work' and our benefits go beyond basic pay, with a discretionary bonus scheme, a culture of reward and recognition and comprehensive support for wellbeing.At the beginning of the year, The Co-operative Bank officially became part of our Group.
