Its mission is to address the changing global landscape of health, disease and medicine through social science perspectives. The Department is located within the School of Global Affairs and the Faculty of Social Science & Public Policy. About the roleThe Department invites applications for a Lecturer in Health Economics. For this post, we seek applicants with expertise in health economics, whose work asks questions about the social, political and economic aspects of health and illness, and who desire to work in an interdisciplinary social science and health department. We are interested in scholars from the fields of heterodox health economics as well as the critical political economy of health and who are familiar with quantitative research methods. We are also particularly interested in applicants whose work is in conversation with any of the following scholarly traditions: Critical Race Theory, Feminism, or some aspect of Decolonial Theory and Practice, as well as Critical Data Science. The Lecturer will help the Department develop a new postgraduate taught programme in Health Economics and Policy and will contribute to the SSPP Methods Centre. The successful applicant will have responsibility for academic and research leadership and will demonstrate leadership alongside teaching duties. The successful candidate will have an emerging track record of publications and a clear research agenda with ideas for grant applications. They will be responsible for delivering high-quality, innovative undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. The successful candidate will also play a role in the institutional and intellectual development of the Department and undertake Departmental, School, Faculty & University administrative duties as required. This is a full-time post (35 hours week), and you will be offered an indefinite contract, starting no earlier than April 2026.
