Job DescriptionMechanical Lead – Delivery of Mechanical Engineering ProjectsNewcastle upon TyneEngineering / Mechanical Design / Fabrication / Construction SupportA growing engineering organisation is seeking an Engineering Lead to oversee the coordination and successful delivery of mechanical engineering projects from concept through to installation. This newly created role is ideal for a driven professional with strong experience spanning design, fabrication liaison, constructability, inspections, and FATs.You will provide day-to-day technical leadership to a team of Mechanical Engineers, ensuring excellence in output, consistency in design, and smooth transition from engineering into fabrication and construction.Key Responsibilities: * Lead the coordination and delivery of engineering projects from early concept through to installation. * The Mechanical Lead will manage daily engineering activities across multiple projects, working closely with the Engineering Manager and Project Teams. * Provide strong technical leadership to Mechanical Engineers, ensuring delivery to schedule, budget, specification, and quality requirements. * Support resource planning to maintain alignment between engineering output and project schedules. * Conduct regular technical reviews across all projects, ensuring robust, accurate, and efficient mechanical engineering solutions. * Own and lead formal Design Reviews, ensuring compliance with specifications and industry standards. * Own and lead formal Constructability Reviews, ensuring designs are 1) Manufacturable within schedule and budget constraints, 2) Suitable for assembly and testing by construction teams. * Ensure consistency, quality, and continuous improvement across mechanical drawings and engineering outputs.Skills & Experience Required: * Degree (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering mechanical discipline. * Mechanical Lead experience, leading and coordinating large engineering teams - including creation and management of schedules and project budgets. * Experience engaging with customers in technical discussions and supporting commercial and project management negotiations. * Knowledge of the design and manufacture of offshore, lifting, marine and/or subsea equipment and machinery would be advantageous.Why Apply: * Newly created leadership role with significant influence over engineering delivery standards. * Opportunity to shape engineering consistency, quality, and constructability across a diverse project portfolio. * Excellent development prospects for a motivated engineering professional looking to step into wider leadership. * Newcastle upon Tyne headquartered operation with excellent office environment
