Job DescriptionHWF is supporting a rapidly growing private equity–backed business in Grimsby as they enter their next phase of scale, investment and operational transformation. With an impressive senior leadership team and a fast-paced environment, they are seeking an experienced Interim Head of Finance to lead the finance function and strengthen reporting, governance and controls.The Role:As Interim Head of Finance, you will take ownership of the day-to-day finance operation, ensuring robust, timely and accurate reporting while driving improvements in control, governance and financial discipline across the business. You will lead and develop a small but capable finance team and be a key partner to the Finance Director and wider SLT.Key Responsibilities:\tLead and manage the finance team, ensuring clarity, accountability and high performance.\tOwn all management and financial reporting, delivering accurate monthly results, variance analysis and commentary.\tStrengthen governance, controls and compliance across the finance function and wider business.\tOversee balance sheet integrity, cashflow reporting and forecasting.\tImprove financial processes, month-end timelines and reporting quality.\tSupport the Finance Director with board reporting, investor information packs and PE stakeholder requirements.\tDrive accountability around financial controls, including:\tBalance sheet reconciliations\tPurchase-to-pay processes\tCompany credit cards\tSupply payment controls\tExpense and PO workflows\tAged debtor oversight\tPension and payroll compliance\tAct as a visible, hands-on leader who can bring structure, rigour and pace to a high-growth environment.About You:\tQualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with strong post-qualified experience.\tProven background in Head of Finance/Financial Controller roles, ideally within PE-backed or fast-paced environments.\tExceptional financial reporting, technical accounting and control/governance capability.\tDemonstrable experience leading and developing teams.\tStrong stakeholder management and ability to partner with operations, SLT and PE investors.\tHands-on, pragmatic and able to deliver quickly in an evolving environment.\tSenior-level exposure in a PE-backed environment.\tAbility to shape the finance function and leave a lasting legacy across reporting, controls and team capability.
