Quality Control Engineer

We are looking for a project quality engineer to join our team and help ensure the highest of standards of quality across some of the most exciting engineering projects in the UK. If you thrive in a fast paced environment and want to make a real impact from concept to completion this is the role for youWe are a Sheffield based engineering business known for delivering precision, innovation and reliability in complex mechanical handling systems, From defense and Nuclear to Sport and entertainment, our projects push boundaries and so do our peopleKey ResponsibilitiesAttend internal design and external quality meetings to facilitate QC requirementsAssess product specifications and customer requirementsGenerate manufacturing specifications from client's requirementsGenerate overarching Inspection & Test Plans for projectsEnsure compliance with national and international standardsEnsure procedures are properly understood, carried out and evaluated, and that product modifications are investigated if necessaryLiaise and manage with customer QC to facilitate all of the QA requirements on a projectPerform internal and supplier audits against project requirementsCarry out manufacturing inspections on suppliers' premisesExpediting suppliers to ensure approval and final documents are received on timeAct as key contact with customers' auditors and take responsibility for ensuring the execution of corrective actions and ongoing compliance with customers' specificationsAssess suppliers' product specifications, quality plans & ITP'sCheck drawing for manufacturabilityUpdate the quality system as and when requiredWrite project quality requirements from client specifications.Technical competencies & ExperienceEssentialKnowledge of statistics is required with general numeracy, coupled with good interpersonal skills. The job function covers all aspects of a work group's or company's operation and requires the ability to assimilate and analyse information.Thorough understanding of the mechanical and electrical handling industryAbility to read technical drawingsExperience of working within a Quality TeamExperience with compiling LTQR's and other Quality related documentsGood attention to detailHave a systematic and disciplined approach to work; ability to plan, schedule and monitor own work within limited and defined timescalesExcellent communication skills with clients and staff at all levelsFluent with Microsoft Office and Adobe AcrobatDesirableRecognised audit qualificationHNC, HND or degree qualified in a Technical Engineering disciplineExperience in a mechanical handling companyExperience working within Nuclear / Defence projects
