This is an opportunity to join a lean, focused leadership group where your work has a visible, city-wide impact.The RoleWe're looking for a Director of Project Delivery to oversee the planning, governance and execution of major operational and capital projects.You'll manage a Project Manager and Project Executive, working closely with the COO and wider senior leadership team to ensure the portfolio progresses on time, on budget and to the highest safety and operational standards.Projects span vessel upgrades (including new electric craft), pier construction and redevelopment, marine works, and broader infrastructure improvements - requiring someone comfortable leading delivery in complex, multi-stakeholder environments.This role suits someone confident operating at senior level while still maintaining a hands-on approach to delivery, risk management and contractor oversight.Key ResponsibilitiesLead governance and oversight of the full project portfolio, ensuring alignment with organisational strategy Translate strategic goals into clear delivery plans, milestones and project controlsPrioritise projects based on value, risk, operational impact and resourcingMonitor delivery against timelines and budgets, taking early action to resolve risks and bottlenecksAct as the senior point of contact for contractors, suppliers and delivery partners, ensuring compliance and performanceDirect and support internal project teams, providing clarity, leadership and accountabilityMaintain rigorous governance frameworks, approvals processes, and change controlsCollaborate closely with Finance, Operations and external partners to ensure accurate forecasting and resource alignmentLead operational readiness planning for new vessels, assets or sites coming into serviceDrive continuous improvement by applying lessons learned and performance insights to future deliverySkills & ExperienceSignificant project or programme delivery experience, ideally in transport, marine, infrastructure or public-sector environments Strong track record delivering complex capital projects over £5mExperience coordinating internal teams and external contractors in multi-disciplinary environmentsComfortable managing construction-led workstreams, vessel or marine-related upgrades, or customer-facing infrastructure projectsProficient in recognised project methodologies (e.g. PRINCE2, MSP, Agile)Strong commercial judgement with experience in vendor management and contract oversightConfident operating with senior stakeholders and executive leadershipCalm, structured and pragmatic under pressure, with strong problem-solving skillsBehaviours & ApproachClear communicator who builds trust across technical and non-technical teamsStrategic thinker who can also move quickly when operational issues ariseHighly organised with strong attention to detailComfortable navigating ambiguity and bringing structure to evolving situationsCollaborative, steady under pressure, and confident leading othersLocation: Based at Head Office in East London with occasional travel to project sites across the city Working: hybrid, but mostly on site, 4 days a weekSalary: £80k (DOE)We are an equal opportunity employer.We value inclusivity and diversity, believing it creates a better working world.We love to see applicants from all different backgrounds and hire based on skills and potential, not solely focusing on prior experience.Qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to age, disability, gender perception or identity, marital status, pregnancy or maternity, race or ethnicity, religion or belief, sex, or sexual orientation.If you require any accessibility support, please let us know how we can improve your experience.
