Job DescriptionHere at Saint-Gobain Abrasives, we are looking for a Design Engineer.In short, you will primarily prepare 2D designs from component or supplied dresser drawings and provide manufacturing/design drawings, material lists and manufacturing process routes for existing and bespoke products. We take pride in delivering world-class customer service, and in this role, you'll be instrumental in enabling the business to manufacture solutions that consistently meet and exceed customer expectations.As an Engineer, you're driven by the desire to make things better. In this role, you'll play a key part in enhancing manufacturing quality and reducing costs by identifying opportunities for smarter design and process improvements. You will be based from our Staverton site, 5 days a week. What we're looking for: Experience of Solid Edge, AutoCAD and other relevant CAD packagesProven knowledge and experience of design/drawing processA practical understanding of manufacturing processes to enable the holder to support the manufacturing process, optimise the design and resolve any technical product issuesKnowledge of numerical analysis and finite element analysisDegree educated or equivalent, ideally in a mechanical, materials or production engineering related subjectNot a necessity but a relevant degree (or equivalent) in a mechanical, materials or production engineering related subject What you will be doing:Prepare drawings / designs to support the sales and manufacturing processProvide product specifications, including product functionality, material BOMs, SAP routing and costing, packaging and progress chasing.Ensure that all products are fit for purpose and safe to use, including relevant ancillary equipment and all designs and methods to comply within ISO 9001 and 14001 guidelinesProvide a specialist consultancy service on the design and application of all products, including existing, modified, or new products - consider all aspects of the customers machine fixture design and grinding application e.g. coolant, wheel spec, speeds & feedsMaintain and update standard drawings and material lists including the checking and coaching of others and ensuring that consistency and goods practice are applied and designs are feasible for manufacturePromote and implement continuous improvement in all areas of the plant through the adoption and implementation of World Class Manufacturing principles, tools and techniques.Are Abrasives and Saint-Gobain inclusive employers?Saint-Gobain is the worldwide leader in light and sustainable construction improving daily life through high-performance solutions.
