Closing Date15/12/2025Job Title: Inspector - Water Network & Trunk Main Asset MaintenanceLocation: Chatham, KentJob Type: PermanentHours: 37Salary: £28,200 per annum depending on skills and experience plus company vanAs an Inspector - Water Network & Trunk Main Asset Maintenance (internally known as Trunk Asset Maintenance Inspector), you will play a vital role in safeguarding Southern Water's strategic water network. This position is key to maintaining and improving the operational integrity of our trunk mains, ensuring water quality and reducing the risk of supply interruptions for our customers.You'll be responsible for monitoring, diagnosing, and maintaining critical assets, managing access routes, operating valves, performing minor remediation works, and updating internal systems to keep our Asset Management Teams informed. This is a hands-on role that combines technical expertise, problem-solving, and collaboration.Key ResponsibilitiesIn this role, you'll be responsible for inspecting and monitoring trunk mains assets, identifying defects and risks, and ensuring accurate data is recorded in company systems. You'll liaise with landowners and partners for access, maintain water quality standards, and perform valve operations, low-complexity repairs, and occasional night work. The position also involves supporting emergency operations, engaging with internal and external stakeholders, clearing vegetation, and ensuring safe working practices.
