You’ll be part of a collaborative, inclusive team that values excellence, respect, and continual improvement.About the RoleAs Specialist Applications Casework Manager, you’ll play a vital role in supporting the evaluation of specialist surgical applications for the GMC register. Working closely with subject matter experts and the Head of Specialist Applications, you’ll manage a fast-paced caseload, ensure deadlines are met, and help maintain the highest standards in specialist registration. You’ll also assist with appeals, produce clear guidance, and contribute to ongoing process improvements.Key ResponsibilitiesManage specialist applications, supporting evaluators and the assessment processCirculate applications, minute meetings, draft correspondence, and organise virtual evaluation meetingsProvide guidance on regulations and legislation for specialist registrationDraft and update guidance and training materials for assessment panels and applicantsTrack application progress and ensure contractual deadlines are metMaintain accurate records and databasesSupport and deputise for the Head of Specialist Applications, including appeals preparationAttend meetings with internal and external stakeholders, sometimes deputising as neededContribute to process reviews and regular reportingSkills / Experience RequiredEssential:Degree-level education or equivalent experienceExperience managing a busy workload and using databases/IT systemsExcellent written English, including report writingAbility to synthesise and present complex information clearlyStrong organisational skills and attention to detailExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to work independently and as part of a teamCommitment to equality, diversity, and inclusionConfident user of Microsoft 365Desirable:Background in health regulation (e.g., GMC or similar)Caseworking or accreditation experienceExperience in healthcare, education, or training organisationsExperience with appeals or committee workInterview ProcessOne stage (online or in-person considered) including a short taskTo ApplyBespoke cover letterCVDeadlineSunday 4th January 2026We want you to have every opportunity to demonstrate your skills, ability and potential; please contact us if you require any assistance or adjustment so that we can help with making the application process work for you.
