Lead Infrastructure Engineer – Hands-on, Trading TechnologyLondon – Hybridup tp £150,000 + BonusQuant Capital is working with a global market-making firm looking for a Lead Infrastructure Engineer to lead the buildout and evolution of its trading platform across cloud and on-prem environments. This is a senior technical leadership role with full ownership of infrastructure strategy, delivery, and scale across low-latency trading systems.This hire will drive a major AWS migration, build greenfield environments, modernise legacy systems, and shape the long-term engineering roadmap. You'll lead a small but senior infrastructure function with real autonomy and impact.The RoleOwn infrastructure architecture across cloud, on-prem and hybrid platformsLead end-to-end AWS migration and modernisation strategyBuild greenfield environments for trading and research workloadsDesign and operate highly available, low-latency global infrastructureTake ownership of Microsoft services, Active Directory and core networkingEngineer secure connectivity across firewalls, routing and multi-site linksDrive network security, segmentation and access control strategyLead and grow a high-performing infrastructure/DevOps teamPartner closely with engineering, trading and risk functionsAutomate provisioning and deployment with IaC (CloudFormation/Terraform/Ansible)Scale monitoring, cost optimisation and system reliability in productionBackground3+ years in infrastructure leadership within trading, market-making or high-performance engineering environments8+ years of experienceStrong AWS architecture and hybrid (cloud + on-prem) experienceDeep networking background: routing, switching, low-latency connectivityStrong understanding of reliability engineering and autoscaling systemsPrior experience building and scaling teams in high-performing environmentsConfident interacting with technical and trading leadershipCore SkillsAWS (VPC, IAM, S3, ECS/EKS, Direct Connect, Transit Gateway, CloudFormation)Windows ServerActive DirectoryNetworking: BGP, OSPF, MPLS, VLANs, VPNs, SD-WANFirewalls and network security (Cisco ASA, Fortinet or similar)Linux and Windows systems engineeringMicrosoft services and identity (AD/Entra ID)CI/CD (GitLab CI or similar)IaC and automation (CloudFormation, Ansible, Terraform)Monitoring/Observability (CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana)Scripting (Python, Bash)This is a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Infrastructure Engineer with some light management and leadership skills to step into a Head role for a growing but small team and within a fast-paced market making business.
