A Permanent Female or Male Part Time, Personal Care Assistant’s / Support Worker’s required to job share as part of a 3-shift team to assist a Male Adult with a Physical Disability living in the East Kilbride area. Ideal for a local person to give needed full back up support when required in all types of weather and short notice emergency support.

You would be required to provide one to one care and assistance within and out with their own home, including attending to personal care and participation in social activities. Your duties would involve but not restricted to assisting with tasks such as,
- Attending to all personal care needs (showering, toileting including very occasion stoma assistance, dressing and hair trim with clippers of a near bald person.
- Attending to pressure sores with nurse’s support when needed.
- Assisting with organising of weekly medication.
- Preparing meals and drinks and snacks.
- Accompanying to meetings, Cinema, Concerts, Shopping etc and general companionship. Basic computer skills would be helpful.
- Moving and assisting - sometimes pushing a manual wheelchair.
- Household shopping and collecting prescriptions and housework needs as you would do in your own home.
- Any other daily living tasks as needed to promote independent living.

A full and clean U.K. driving licence for at least three years is essential and capable of driving a large automatic estate car with a Motability 25 years or over insurance age restriction.

Be able to accompany the disabled employer on holiday for normally two weeks a year with free accommodation and traveling. Paid at £120 per day.
- The role requires close personal contact with an individual who is extremely vulnerable to the risk of infection and disease transmission._
- Preference may be given to applicants who have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19. Careful consideration will be given to applicants who can show the vaccination is not suitable for them on reasonable grounds._

Must take a proactive and innovative approach to support individual to be involved in activities suited to their needs.

Favourite activities are general shopping, antiques, cinema, music concerts, and community meetings as well as time spent in the home.

Care or nursing assistant experience of higher personal care is required.

The most important qualities are Honesty, Flexibility, Reliability, Confidentiality and a warm and friendly nature and a desire to work within a caring role.

Good interpersonal and communication skills are essential.

**Hours of Work (with a degree of flexibility)**

Recruiting for one Part Time position, to Job share as a team of three, over a week. As well as being able to cover the other team member’s annual leave or the occasional sick leave for an extra day or two in a week.

Hopefully leading to a permanent position after a 8 week probation period. Weekly shifts of 16 hrs per week, 8 hrs per day, normally 10.00 am - 6.00 pm, Wednesday & Thursday. But must be flexible for medical appointments or the very occasional night out. Also to be available to cover you’re colleagues Annual Leave or the occasional Sick Leave for one or two extra day’s a week.

**Days and times**:
Usually set shifts at day time, Wednesday & Thursday at 10am - 6pm. All shifts must have a degree of flexibility when occasionally needed, this is the whole basis of a Self-Directed Support employment, which is to enable the disabled person to live as full, flexible and fulfilling a life as possible.

**Hourly rate**: £12 per hour
