**Application Support Engineer**
**London**

As a Barclays Application Support Engineer, you will be accountable for leading and managing the availability of mission-critical services, working closely with the business facing client support team, and driving continuous improvement of stability, quality, and efficiency through effective service management and reliability engineering. **Working Flexibly**

**What will you be doing?**:

- Contributing to critical team accountabilities and deliverables including availability and stability of the eFX platforms, capturing incidents, and resolving issues in a timely manner
- Developing a solid grasp of the eFX business systems, including the front-back processes and technology services assisting the business
- Being involved in major incidents and operational issues impacting the business, including recovery / resolution
- Producing ad-hoc reports for both IT and business stakeholders, participating in build out of ITRS monitoring capabilities and creating documentation / process automation
- Partnering with the business and key stakeholders, keeping aligned to business direction, growth, and strategic initiatives, whilst ensuring stability, quality, and efficiency of service
- Delivering a ‘best-in-class’ service to Clients, Trading and Sales, consistently meeting and exceeding their expectations in a high-pressured environment
- Embracing innovation, automation, and process optimisation to exceed business expectations through improved service quality and operational efficiency

**What we’re looking for**:

- Experience in a Unix environment
- Familiarity with shell/Perl/python scripting and ability and driven to read and write complex PL/SQL queries
- Knowledge of incident, problem, change, capacity, resilience, monitoring and automation, with a proven track-record of delivering improvements to the overall quality of service
- Expertise in ITIL processes with experience implementing Service Design and Service Transition

**Skills that will help you in the role**:

- Knowledge in one of the following: Markets business, Rates, Credit, Securitized Products, Foreign Exchange, Equities Derivatives, Equities Cash or Primes Services
- Experience implementing monitoring, performance, and observability tools like ITRS, AppD & Elastic
- Expertise in core infrastructure, including Cloud, Networks, Middleware and Databases

In the heart of Canary Wharf, our headquarters at Churchill Place boasts onsite amenities such as; a gym, staff restaurant and deli bar, and is easily accessible by tube and bus links.
