**Job description**:
We have a current opportunity for a Well Planning Geologist on a contract basis. The position will be based in Aberdeen.

This is onshore only. Plus point is it is 3 days a week in the office and 2 days WFH.

This is with a major operator.

long term contract.

We are looking for a geologist with well planning skills to progress the Deepwater fields target options portfolio

**Qualifications**:

- A geoscience degree
- relevant experience, including well-planning and drilling, some of which should be in the UKCS.
- Seismic, geological and / or petrophysical interpretation and workstation skills

The following skills / experience will be an advantage:

- Familiarity with Petrel

Key Skills
- Technical contributor, supporting / leading well planning activities, within an integrated well delivery squad, in collaboration with the partnership. Some experience of coaching and mentoring of other geoscientists within the squad.
- Define target objectives and desired outcomes for wells consistent with Depletion Plan, following well delivery processes including: well concept summary, no drilling surprises, statement of requirements, data acquisition program, overburden characterisation and geological scenarios, pore-pressure and fracture gradient calculations, drilling and geological operations plan.
- Integrate subsurface data to describe the structural and stratigraphic framework and associated uncertainties/risks, for a particular well, including the overburden and provide a range of geological scenarios for the reservoir outcome.
- Assist the operations geologist with the creation of operational decision trees, pre-drill risk registers, mitigations and contingency plans.
