Acute Lead Clinical Psychologist

The post holder will be responsible for the promotion and management of a high quality psychology service across the Acute Care Pathway including inpatient, Home Treatment, Access and Liaison services within Tameside & Glossop Borough.

The post holder will provide direct face-to-face clinical sessions and support the psychosocial intervention work of colleagues via the provision of supervision, formulations, consultation and training. The post-holder will have a key role in supporting further development of personal recovery-focused and trauma informed care approach across the service. A key function of the role will be to support staff in the acute care pathway to develop a psychological understanding and context for service users and carers. Operating in an integrated and inclusive style you will work closely with both ward-based staff and the MDTs to support the development of individual care planning. The post holder will propose and implement evidence-based practice, utilising research skills for audit and service developments. You will be part of an established Secondary Care Psychological Therapy Service that has good links to Doctoral Courses and other psychological therapists.

To provide clinical leadership and direction in the continual development and provision of excellence in applied psychology for the Acute Care Pathway services.
To provide a high quality clinical psychology service to adults presenting with complex mental health problems.
To provide highly specialised psychological assessment and therapy while also offering offering advice and consultation on service users' psychological care to other colleagues and different professional groups.
To contribute to audit, policy/service development, and research. To propose and implement policy changes within the areas served.
To work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the Trust's policies and procedures.
To provide clinical supervision to individuals and groups of staff working across the inpatient services, including psychology staff.

To be responsible for the provision of psychological services across the Acute Care Pathway including inpatient wards.
To carry a caseload and to undertake highly specialist psychological assessments based upon the appropriate use and interpretation of complex data from various sources.
To develop psychological formulations of complex mental health problems to inform the team's treatment and management of these difficulties
To provide appropriate structured psychological interventions and psychological therapies for people with severe and/or complex mental health problems (and, when appropriate, their families or carers).
To harness and support the psychosocial skills of other team members by providing clinical supervision, consultation and liaison work and opportunities for co-working.
To develop and maintain appropriate psychosocial supervision frameworks.
To contribute to the appropriate risk assessment and risk management by providing training and consultation to other professionals on psychological aspects of risk assessment and management.
To promote team working and constructive relationships with multi-disciplinary colleagues.
To collaborate with unit managers on developing best practice in psychological care for the unit environment.
To promote trauma informed care across the units.
