Working for a better future

About us

At Hertfordshire County Council, we are focused on delivering positive and successful life outcomes for local children. We know a great education is vital to putting children and young people on the right path, and as such, we’re investing in extending ourIntegrated Services for Learning. With a focus on utilising an integrated practices framework, our Educational Psychology Service delivers innovative solutions to some of Hertfordshire’s most vulnerable young residents, and it is within this team that youcould discover exceptional opportunities.

The role

As an Educational Psychologist who has experience of supporting children and young people aged 0 to 25 (with a particular emphasis on SEND) we will expect you to deliver high quality preventative and statutory advice that will enable service users to getthe most out of their educational experiences. This will put you at the cutting-edge of educational psychology, as you will devise creative strategies and interventions that will help children and young people get the most out of life. Working collaborativelywith teachers and those involved in the care of young people, you will work in a range of settings including young people’s homes, academy and free schools, children’s centres and colleges. Providing an overarching viewpoint on every young person’s socialand emotional wellbeing, and how they could overcome hurdles to inclusion and academic success, you will provide training to carers and educational staff, so the scope to make a difference is immense.

About you

To make the most of this incredible opportunity, we will expect you to be a research or evidence-based practitioner with an exceptional ability to connect with children and young people. With confident skills in formulating hypotheses based on the evidencethat you are provided with, you will have the flexibility to provide last-minute crisis and critical incidence support, so that we can fully embrace the importance of early intervention. HCPC registered with qualifications that are recognised by the BritishPsychological Society, you will have a good knowledge of legislation relating to young people under the age of 25. You will also be a highly organised individual with good communication and engagement capabilities, and you will be calm and resilient underpressure.

What we can offer

In turn, we can offer you a fascinating career path with a local authority that always strives for excellence - both for our local residents and for our staff. As such, we can offer you plenty of professional support and development opportunities, underpinnedby a great work-life balance, a competitive benefits package and the opportunity to embrace flexible and hybrid working opportunities.

If you’re ready to take your career to the next level, then we’d welcome the chance to discuss our ambitious plans for Hertfordshire’s most vulnerable children.
