Orthopaedic Physiotherapy lead of the elective pathway team, managing a small MDT managing patients going through orthopaedic procedures throughout their journey from pre-op to post discharge. Job will have focus on all aspects of Orthopaedic care, including pathway development and working with relevant colleagues in the PCT.
- To support the Service Manager and Elective Consultant in Orthopaedic in development and provision of an effective, efficient and high quality service.
- To provide assessment and treatment of patients that have a range of Orthopaedic surgeries
- To maintain an overview of all aspects of Orthopaedic for patients undergoing all elective surgery including joint replacement surgery.
- To provide clinical expertise, participating in teaching, research and audit activities.
- To manage and lead a team of staff by example and respond accordingly to the needs of patients and their families.
- Ensure that the Directorate competency based training package for staff are implemented within the working environment.
- The post holder will be expected to balance a suitable mix of clinical and managerial commitments each week.

The post holder will be involved in all stages of the patient journey to include: Pre-Operative assessment

Development and monitoring of the Elective Care Plan to include progressive exercises to be continued upon discharge to home

Daily organisation and scheduling of home visits for the Elective Care Support Workers

To ensure patients are available and ready for surgery to maximise throughput of the theatre lists, avoiding unnecessary cancellations.
- The post holder will have excellent communication skills to ensure effective communication between the members of the multi-disciplinary team, the Directorate

Management Team, professional leads, patients, carers and external organisations.
- Maintaining operational and strategic communications matters
- The Post holder will develop the Team to ensure the service meets the requirements of the patient and the Provider Services in line with any service level agreements, to maintain a high profile level of services to encourage patient choice
