Truro, United Kingdom Cornwall Council Full time

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time Contact Worker within the Multi-Agency Referral Unit (MARU) and Early Help Hub (EHH)

The EHH and MARU provide an outstanding service (OFSTED 2019)) and are led by Cornwall Council but host a fully integrated health and social care team providing a single point of access for children’s safeguarding and early help and services across Cornwall. The MARU and EHH are located within New County Hall and provide a seamless approach to access safeguarding and early help services for children, young people and families. These services are community based and provided by Cornwall Council, Cornwall Foundation Trust and other key partners including the voluntary and community sector.

The EHH and MARU consists of a group of highly motivated professionals from health, social care, education and early help locality teams who work in close partnership to ensure children, young people and families are safeguarded and receive the right help, in the right place at the right time.

**About You**

The role will require a response which could be both telephone and/or electronic, to requests into the EHH and MARU and the processing of these to the most appropriate service. Contact workers play an important role in ensuring that all requests receive the appropriate level of attention dependent on the information provided and conveying outcomes to both referrer and referee. The role will be within a wider team consisting of contact workers and a multidisciplinary team of children’s services professionals. This integrated service plays a key role in narrowing the gap in outcomes for those children, young people and families who are vulnerable or in need of protection.

As well as an exciting and supportive working environment, Children’s services are committed to supporting this role through good supervision and learning and development opportunities.

This is a public/customer-facing role, where the statutory English language requirement for public sector workers applies.

Fairness and inclusion are at the heart of our vision for Cornwall. In order to best serve our communities, we are striving to achieve a diverse workforce that is inclusive of all backgrounds, cultures and identities; e.g. race, disability, sex, gender, age, religion and sexual orientation. We are an equal opportunities and Disability Confident employer, and we will assess applicants on their merits.

Cornwall Council is committed to safeguarding and following safer recruitment principles to help make sure our staff and volunteers are suitable to work with children, young people and adults at risk. It’s a vital part of creating a safe and positive environment and making a commitment to keeping all service users safe from harm.

Whilst the location/work-base for this role has been specified our evolving ways of working means that the role may require you to also work remotely (e.g. from home/other locations). We will discuss this with you during the recruitment process.

More information about working for Cornwall Council is available here.

We are happy to talk about flexible working options.
