**How you'll make a difference**

This is a money management job. As a Case Officer in the Appointeeship & Deputyship team you will be supporting some of our most vulnerable service users who do not have the mental capacity to manage their own finances. You will care about making a real difference for people, safeguarding their finances, supporting individuals to remain independent and maximising their income and capital. This can cover dealing with everything from paying household bills to selling property or investing capital.

**What will you be doing?**
- Working with mínimal supervision and with delegated authority of the councils’ Court of Protection appointed Deputy, you will be responsible for the management of all financial affairs for vulnerable individuals, including the day-to-day reconciliation of clients’ income and expenditure.
- In this role you will ensure procedures are followed and financial affairs are constantly monitored, reconciled, and managed, maintaining accurate records, advocating in the best interest of the client at all times.
- You will act as Department for Work and Pensions Corporate Appointee for our service users and ensure that they receive their full entitlement to benefits. You will make payments on behalf of the client using the council’s various systems and maintain accurate records on service users.
- The responsibility will be yours to set up appropriate budgets, including income and expenditure sheets with the co-operation of the key worker and client.
- You will ensure that suitable accounts are operated, and savings levels monitored. You’ll complete detailed financial information that can be used in a financial assessment and debt management. You will need to create accurate annual reports for each individual managed by the authority, which are to be submitted to the Office of Public Guardian.
- You will liaise with external companies such as utility providers
- You will attend visits to clients when necessary. You will also be responsible for various aspects of protecting our service users’ property and belongings and the administration of any house/asset sales, arranging and carrying out appropriate house clearances.

**The essentials for the job**
- Substantial, demonstrable and relevant experience of managing a caseload involving dealing with queries and correspondence from the public
- Substantial, demonstrable and relevant experience of working with a computerised financial and data management system
- Knowledge of Adult Social Care policy and practice
- The ability to effectively communicate in writing and converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English
- Ability to negotiate with a wide range of external agencies and partners and develop good and appropriate relationships with internal and external customers/partners
- To be able to work without direct supervision and manage own time effectively to ensure tasks are accurately completed and deadlines are met, acting with high levels of trust and personal accountability
- Ability to gather information, analyse, understand, and respond to what internal / external customers need and expect
- Demonstrable understanding of the importance of confidentiality, data security and management
- Understanding service requirements for management information
- Must be able to perform all duties and tasks with reasonable adjustment, where appropriate, in accordance with the provisions of the Equality Act 2010.
- Smart appearance commensurate to the duties of the post**.**

We have 1 permanent full-time post available, which can be filled either full-time 37 hours a week) or part-time (18.5 hours a week).
