Job description
The role
Our Area relies on clean and plentiful groundwater supplies for abstraction and baseflow to springs and rivers. We need a groundwater resources specialist to join our Lincolnshire & Northamptonshire Groundwater & Contaminated Land team. You will be working in a productive and experienced team, delivering technical advice, regulation and guidance on groundwater matters to internal and external partners.
Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. You will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract an additional payment and full training, and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.The team
The team comprises technical specialists and officers who offer expertise across Water Land & Biodiversity, Regulated Industry and Flood and Coastal Risk Management. Our skills include groundwater quality and resources, land contamination, landfill engineering and conventional oil and gas regulation.Experience/skills required
You’ll be qualified to at least degree level (or equivalent) in a Geoscience related discipline, namely environmental science, geology or hydrogeology. A member of a professional body (or working towards this). You will have a strong understanding of and experience in groundwater resources. You will be a skilled communicator, experienced in analysing, interpreting and presenting data to a range of audiences. You will be expected to support and develop team members. You will be comfortable communicating risk and successes to Stakeholders, the Area Leadership team and nationally.
You will need to be proficient in GIS and Microsoft Office. You will need good knowledge of hydrogeology and have experience of delivering presentations.Contact and additional information
The role will be required to work from Ceres House, Lincoln. We have incorporated flexible ways of working into our daily routine, however the role will require occasional travel to other office locations in the Area, and sometimes nationally, for meetings and to undertake site visits. As a result, a full UK driving licence is required and there is a requirement for some non-hybrid working.
Interview and assessment are to be held in the first week of June 2025 and will be in person at Ceres House, Lincoln.Competence 1
