Employment Health and Wellbeing Officer

Salary starting from: £11.44ph - £13.66ph depending on experience

Purpose of the Role

This position is a part of the UKSPF Community-Led Employment Support Project.

You will be working to assist Wirral residents throughout the community, specialising in those within minority ethnic groups, the ECONOMICALLY INACTIVE and those seeking assistance with pre-employment support, to help clients identify job goals and barriers to work, and create individual action plans to help guide them into sustainable work, improving work prospects with one to one support, CV Building, job search techniques and additional support, while making appropriate use of funding available to support their journey with necessary training or other needs to help break down barriers to work.

You will also be able to identify additional barriers and client issues, and advise accordingly, signposting to a relevant service, or referrals to other advisers and organisations where necessary.

MAIN DUTIES

Employment and Health and Wellbeing Officer
- Provide a quality service, including the provision of suitable advice and guidance to those not economically active across the Wirral Borough.
- The provision of quality tailored service and one to one support with minority ethnic, vulnerable, and isolated groups.
- To identify and engage with disadvantaged and isolated groups or individuals, to empower with job search skills and techniques to assist their journey into sustainable employment.
- Engage with local employers to source opportunities, and link with clients for potential outcomes.
- Deal with all necessary written, electronic and telephone correspondence, follow-up work, and record all required data accurately and in a timely fashion, in accordance with ESF compliance requirements.
- Maintain and organise diaries and appointments and manage all workloads accordingly to strict deadlines and target dates, meeting project KPIs and individual targets.
- Attend and assist the organisation during events, meetings and functions.
- Keeping of accurate and updated records of all client enquiries and activities.
- Promote all aspects of Wirral Change’s aims and values within the community and assist with its onward growth.
- Keep up to date with client records across different database systems including Charitylog & Hanlon.
- Support weekly job club sessions, proving employment support in a relaxed group environment & teaching the client the tools needed for successful job search.
- Attend to any other such duties consistent with the role of an Employment Key Worker, and any other duties as may be determined necessary by the Management Team.

ESSENTIAL QUALITIES
- IAG advice and Guidance at Level 2 or 3.
- Excellent communication skills across a range of mediums, along with strong verbal and written skills.
- Be aware of and work towards meeting set monthly targets and KPIs.
- Be empathetic by nature, an attentive listener, and be non-judgmental when approaching client issues.
- Be comfortable when meeting clients, and to instill confidence where it is needed.
- Have excellent ICT skills, including MS Office, especially Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Illustrate ability to plan and manage hectic workloads and record data accurately and effectively.
- Have a reasonable understanding of the benefits system, right to work requirements and employability techniques.
- Have a good knowledge of local services, third sector provisions and similar organisations across the Wirral.
- Strong team work ethic is essential, and should be willing to adopt and share techniques, practices and knowledge within the team.
- Be able to diversify on a client-by-client basis, to overcome any potential issues, including language and disability barriers, and explore opportunities.
- Be able to provide a full Enhanced DBS.

DESIRABLE QUALITIES
- Additional languages or translation skills are a definite bonus.
- Experience in a similar role, and a good understanding or experience of working with diverse communities.
- Be able to make good use of relevant contacts, including individuals and organisations across the borough.
- Able to focus on people, their needs and barriers, and a determination to provide the best support within your ability.
- Be able to work to initiative, with mínimal supervision, but in compliance with the programme’s requirements.
- Be willing to work outside of normal hours, attend events and reach out to clients unable to make their way to you.
- Experience within recruitment style role.
- Keen eye for detail in terms of paperwork quality & compliance.
- Good understanding of various database systems, or the ability to adapt and learn new systems.
- A potential suiter must be passionate about empowering clients to progress further on their career path.
- Strong Interpersonal skills.
- A good but appropriate sense of humour.
