Head of Cloud Architecture

We have an exciting opportunity for a **Head of Cloud Architecture** to join Digital Technology Services (DTS) in Centrica. In this role, you will be responsible for all technical design aspects of Centrica Cloud computing across multiple cloud platforms with a core focus across Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure.

**A bit about the job**

The** Head of Cloud Architecture** will lead a team of Technical Cloud and Network Architects, architecting and designing shared, multi-region/multi-supplier Cloud hosting platforms supporting all Centrica’s business units. Ensure Centrica’s cloud investments have the right technical governance, solution designs and technical governance.

Lead in strategy, architecture, and planning of multi-cloud technology solutions across Centrica, whilst providing implementation guidance to the operating layers based on best practices throughout the lifecycle of the projects/programmes. You will be part of the cloud leadership team which reports to the CIO, responsible for all aspects of our public cloud.

**The Role**

As a Head of Cloud Architecture, you will:

- Own technical strategy of the cloud across Centrica and lead in architecture of cloud technology solutions
- Inspire and lead cloud technology innovation, including proof of concept to test and challenge the existing designs
- Manage a broad community of specialists to engage in the creation and maintenance of Centrica’s platforms target architecture
- Maintain architecture visions and roadmaps, and an infrastructure technology strategy to deliver robust, resilient, well connected and compliant solutions
- Enhance Cloud capabilities and seamless experiences across multiple devices for varied customer base such as global office workforce, mobile engineers, offshore delivery teams and home workers
- Develop technical standards, design patterns and practices, ensure standards are reviewed on a regular basis
- Be recognised as a leader of a team of Cloud architects spanning multiple cloud vendors and technologies
- Act as an ambassador of the Cloud and Technology modernisation and consolidation Strategy
- Supports business investment planning across Centrica Group, providing proposals for technology-led innovation, as well as estimates and technical dependency guidance for infrastructure change components

**Skills and experience**

We are looking for someone with a highly technical background within the Cloud, Hosting and Infrastructure arena as well as be highly experienced in solution design within a highly matrixed organisation.
- Experience in a Senior / Lead Architect role within a large organisation
- Previous Management and Team leadership experience, providing technical leadership across delivery technical resources, programme resources, third parties and the wider business organisation
- Experience in a multi-unit organisation, advising and collaborating

**Certifications**
- Relevant cloud certifications in AWS and Azure
- Architecture Frameworks & SOA, (e.g. TOGAF, Zachman)
