Environmental Health Officer x3 (Housing)

1 Permanent 2 x 1 Year Fixed Term

**Please ensure you read our Terms and Conditions Information which includes advice on pay, annual leave and hours of working.**

**Market Supplement pending**

Are you a fully EHORB registered Environmental Health Officer, or are you nearing graduation and working towards full qualification and registration? If so, there is an opportunity to further your professional goals and experience in Nottingham City Council’s Safer Housing teams.

Safer Housing is made up of several teams and these include HMO Licensing, Selective Licensing, a reactive complaints team and a proactive enforcement team. Environmental Health Officers (EHO) are essential in delivering this work by undertaking property inspections, enforcing licensing law, leading other officers and driving up property standards in the private rented sector.

EHOs will be attached to a specific team to deliver work in that area, but there may be opportunities to move around and experience the full range of functions that Safer Housing provides. There are also opportunities to progress, with the potential to move into more senior roles, such as a Principal Environmental Health Officer.

As an Environmental Health Officer, you will be responsible for providing premium environmental health, enforcement and compliance, protecting public health and citizen safety. Improving poor housing and living conditions, preventing nuisance, tackling rogue landlords and ensuring properties are licensed and in compliance with license conditions.

**ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS**:

- Possession of a full driving license (unless disability preludes this) and willingness to travel to various locations in and around the city boundary.
- A specialism in at least one of the following areas, but with the knowledge and ability to work in any of the fields as listed as requested. Food Safety, Health and Safety, Housing Standards, Housing Licensing and Compliance and Pollution Control.
- Demonstrate experience and the ability to direct investigations resulting in prosecutions or other legal sanctions in accordance with relevant procedural and evidential rules.
