**Information Governance & Data Protection Specialist**

**The Role**
This role will play an important part in supporting data protection and information governance compliance company-wide. As an experienced information management and data protection professional, you will be responsible for contributing to the development and implementation of key Information Management Framework products and artefacts. You will provide sound planning, drafting and business analysis skills to support the delivery of policy and process developments aimed at maintaining compliance with our data protection obligations as we scale our activities as the UK’s Smart Metering Licensee.
**What will you be doing?**
Reporting to the Head of Information Governance & Data Protection, the Information Governance and Data Protection Specialist will play a critical role in driving continuing development of important information governance initiatives aimed at ensuring Smart DCC is compliant across all areas of the business.
**Key Objectives**
- Policy and process build for key data protection compliance artefacts
- Oversight of IAR and supporting artefacts
- Roadmap to support Information Governance framework for Smart DCC
- Drafting and development of appropriate policies
- Working with stakeholders to develop awareness raising and training framework to support information governance compliance across the organisation
- Provide appropriate monitoring, metrics and management information to managers

- Broad understanding of technology and security controls
- Document development (Policies, Standards, Procedures, Guidelines)

- Communication skills - being able to effectively communicate (verbal and written)
- Analytical skills - being able to quickly analyse situations and make appropriate decisions
- Personal networking skills - being able to quickly gain the confidence of other people and sustain trust
- Prioritisation - being able to prioritise tasks and remain calm under pressure
- Continuous improvement - identify and suggest more efficient ways of using the tools and information available to achieve improved outcomes.
**Qualifications/Experience**
- Demonstrable experience of developing systems and processes to deliver information governance and data protection compliance
- Experience of collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams to build holistic solutions to complex information problems
- Experience of working with internal and external stakeholders to develop policy, process and toolkits
- Background experience in an Information Management or Data Protection role
- Experience in information security and working within an ISO27001 certified environment
