As a funded provider with Perth & Kinross Council, Rosemount Nursery provides high qualitiy childcare and Education. Established for over 25 years, Rosemount’s team of passionate childcare practitioners share responsibility for the care and development of all children using our service. We are looking for a dedicated individual who is passionate about nurturing child development and able to iniate play based learning.
Main Responsibilities
- To provide a high standard of physical, emotional, social and intellectual care for all children.
- To create opportunities to provide a stimulating and balanced range of activities for all children in which to develop and flourish with particular attention to the five main areas of learning in the case of three to five year olds and to settling and support for younger and new children.
- To work as part of a team in planning, organising and delivering daily routine or special activities, weekly and monthly themes.
- To record and assess children’s development and progress and to make informed choices on each child’s next steps of learning.
- To act as a key worker for particular children.
- To communicate with parents on a daily basis about their children.
- To support and supervise other staff as required, particularly unqualified staff, trainees, work experience students and volunteers.
- To implement Rosemount’s values in your day to day practice.
Main Duties
- To plan and facilitate a full curriculum programme of activities suitable to the age range of children attending Rosemount, in conjunction with the rest of the team and managers.
- Develop and maintain records of children’s development, including building, implementing and evaluating appropriate strategies for helping children to overcome any difficulties that they may from time to time experience.
- Help children to gather together their own digital portfolio of achievements.
- Assist managers to inform parents and other professional agencies (where appropriate) of children’s progress and to work with parents in dealing effectively with any difficulties that may be experienced in their child’s development, particularly where special needs are concerned.
- Provide a warm and welcoming atmosphere to all children, parents and visitors paying particular attention to the needs of new children and parents in settling into Rosemount.
- Undertake domestic duties as required, particularly in maintaining hygiene standards at all times, preparing snacks, and helping children with their toilet as appropriate to their age and development.
- Escort children safely while on outings or between school and Rosemount in the case of out of school children.
- Participate in Rosemount team activities, including staff meetings, support & supervision meetings, parents evenings, and training.
- Deputise for other staff and managers as necessary, and contribute to the professional effectiveness of Rosemount in whatever way necessary to ensure its ongoing viability and success. This should include taking particular responsibility for the development of quality of our service in aspects of the programme for different age groups, Rosemount staff development, and/or our physical environment.
Qualities and Experience
A highly competent EYC Practitioner will have particular skills and abilities in building relationships with all children, and especially those with learning, behavioural and special needs. S/he will be able to show how their involvement has helped children to develop to their full potential given their circumstances and in partnership with parents and other members of the team.
S/he will make a particularly effective contribution to the development of other staff members, trainees and volunteers and to the quality of teamwork in Rosemount.
S/he will also be able to show a high quality of reflective practice, seeking out feedback and participating actively in ongoing personal and professional development. S/he will have applied all Rosemount policies and procedures to the fullest extent, and may have contributed to their further development, and will be able to show a significant commitment to our purpose/ethos.
Salary and Conditions
Salary will be paid monthly. This will be negotiable, depending on qualifications and experience. Hours are flexible to meet the needs of the service, and will be designed as far as possible to match the needs and aspirations of the post holder.
There are 28 days paid holidays per year pro rata. These are to be taken at Christmas/New Year, when Rosemount Nursery School will be closed.
Detailed terms and conditions are explained in a separate document, which will be issued to new post holders within 3 months of appointment following a satisfactory probationary period.
Job Share / Full time hours approx 36-38 per week
