**We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Link Worker to join a new service based at Head Office (Buttress House), but also working across South Tyneside’s community and alongside other organisations to provide peer support to individuals experiencing mental health difficulties.**

Working with the Service Manager this important role supports and empowers people to take control of their health and wellbeing who have been assessed by clinical staff within PCNs as having non-clinical needs.

The postholder will be required to use skills and knowledge gained through lived experience to actively listen with empathy, care, and concern, to people who have identified has having mental health needs to help them express their needs, develop goals and solutions. They will work closely to support individuals gain the skills and confidence to attend activities that will have a positive impact on their mental health and wellbeing and build resilience for future challenges.

**About You**

**We would love to hear from you if you have**:

- Experience of supporting the management and coaching of a team.
- Awareness of mental health issues & users’ needs
- Worked with people who have enduring & complex mental health issues in a community-based setting.
- Demonstrates the ability to proactively explore new ways of working that will improve overall performance and service delivery.
- Very good oral communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to develop good working relationships at all levels both internally and externally.
- Ability to promote teamwork, establish and maintain effective working relationships. Able to express views, positively and constructively.
- Ability to prioritise and manage/coordinate a range of different tasks.
- High level of organisational and time management, able to manage and prioritise own work.
- Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
- Knowledge of the sector (mental health / 3rd). Knowledge of the effects of stigma and discrimination. Knowledge of recovery in the context of mental health.
- Discretion and an understanding of confidentiality issues.
- Flexibility in working hours, as this role covers weekdays, weekends, and evenings.
