An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Patient Access Coordinator
- Breast Surgery to join the Outpatient and Admission Team at Guy’s & St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust. This is a permanent post for 37.5 hours per week to support our Outpatient and Admission area within the Breast-Surgery in Guys Hospital. This is an exciting and challenging role within a busy environment in which the post holder would have an opportunity to make a direct positive impact on patient experience.
The post holder will primarily provide reception cover and undertake administrative duties. They must have excellent Customer Service skills, as they will often be the first point of contact for Doctors, Nurses, Managers and patients. They will have a focus on teamwork and reliability, be required to rotate within the team cross site and be able to manage their own workload and priorities. They will be a clear and tactful communicator with the ability to develop strong working relationships with a wide range of people. They will have a mature attitude with good problem-solving abilities and a flexible, can-do approach.
**The role will require you to**:
- assist with day-to-day appointment scheduling and ensuring clinics are well managed and cashed up daily in an efficient manner.
- multi-task and work well under pressure
- have a strong sense of when to escalate to the Outpatient/Admission clinical team, and/or manager and the various services we support
Outpatients/Admission Breast-Surgery is part ofGynae-Oncology & Breastdirectorate and has activity on the Guy’s and St Thomas’(our office is at Guys). The department has a large number of outpatient clinics which cover a variety of medical and surgical specialities. The team consists of 6 Outpatients/Admission Patient Access Coordinator (just for Breast-Surgery), who support/report directly to the Supervisor/Assistant Service Manager and work as a team to support clinics, Nursing staff and patients through the Outpatients and Admission centre.
The Patient Access Coordinator
- Breast Surgery will liaise closely with the clinical team and specialty management teams to ensure patients receive timely and appropriate appointments according to their care pathway.
The post holder will be required to rotate within the team, providing clinic reception cover, booking and rescheduling appointments, answering incoming calls, prepping patient notes and general administrative support.
