We have an exciting opportunity for a Head of Advisory, Sanctions and Financial Intelligence Unit, to join the Financial Crime Compliance (FCC) Function at Banco Santander, London Branch (SLB)
As the Head of Advisory and FIU your role forms part of the broader Financial Crime Compliance Function within SLB and its purpose, is to identify, manage and monitor financial crime risks associated with SLB’s customers and third-party relationships to ensure compliance with financial crime laws and regulations.

- Providing professional and timely advice to the business and support functions
- Acting as the central point of contact in the second line of defence for referrals relating to complex and/or higher risk clients, regarding all financial crime related queries
- Responding to Assurance, Internal/External Audit and regulatory findings, overseeing corrective action as appropriate.
- Providing proactive, effective, and holistic intelligence capability, to source, identify, develop, evaluate and disseminate intelligence, tactically and strategically.
- Overseeing the FIU, including enhancing the strategy and threat mitigation programme as appropriate.
- Supporting interface with UK Law Enforcement and other relevant industry and regulatory initiatives.
**What you’ll bring.**
- Experience working in large, international financial institution
- Strong FCC Subject Matter Expertise with experience of internal or external investigations, transaction monitoring scenarios and threshold development/calibration.
**It would also be nice for you to have.**
- Experience working with international sanctions
- Knowledge of and experience working with a Corporate and Institutional banking products and client base.
- Wide and international financial crime compliance experience with very sound knowledge of relevant laws and regulations.
- Strong stakeholder management skills and ability to make decisions and influence others at all levels.
**What else you need to know.**
This role will be on a 14-month Secondment/FTC based in Triton Square London.
