**What you'll be doing** Balfour Beatty Living Places** has now created a new and exciting opportunity for a **Highways Delivery Operative **to join our **Living Places business Unit to work in Hereford.**

A Member of the Hereford Design and Build Construction Team, delivering Capital Highways Maintenance and New Build Schemes.

As a **Delivery Operative**, your main responsibilities are as follows:

- Support the delivery of CSUK’s Sustainability activities
- Identify potential hazards and proactively implement actions and controls
- Input into the production and delivery of Task Briefing Sheets
- Through observation and liaison with the workforce suggests improvement areas
- Ensures plant is adequate for the task prior to being used
- Keeps up to date with changes in legislation
- Ensures that the Environmental Policy and appropriate parts of Environmental
- Procedures are effectively implemented
- Identify and works with the Construction Team to identify improvements
- Inspections of their own works to ensure standards met
- Ensures that all Non-Conformances are reported as required
- Ensures that a culture of Right First Time is adopted in the Supply Chain
- Input into weekly Programme review with Lead Ganger
- Understands key milestones provided in Programme
- Awareness of project scope and highlights items of additional work with Lead ganger

**Who we're looking for**
The following qualities and experience are essential:

- Capable of taking ownership of tasks and communicating outcomes with Lead Ganger
- Strong work ethic with flexibility to work unsociable hours/nights
- Must be a good team player, with strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Driving Licence

The following qualities and experience are Desirable:

- Experience of Highways Construction works on site.
- HGV 2 Licence
- CSCS Skilled Worker Card.
- NRSWA Operatives 1-7 & 9 (Street works Card)
- NRSWA Unit 2 Signing, Lighting & Guarding
- Emergency First Aid in the Workplace
- Manual Handling
- Abrasive Wheels Course
- Cat & Genny Training
- Mini Excavator 360 (below 5T)
- Understanding of construction tolerances
- Encourages a culture of Right First Time
- Experience of monitoring and delivering against key programmed dates,
- Promote a positive Health, Safety and Environmental management culture to achieve a target of zero incidents under the banners of Zero Harm, Zero
- Working with the Lead Ganger and Supervisor to flag up any situation in construction where costs may alter significantly
- Understands material wastage allowances and able to suggest improvements to save materials
