Group Internal Auditor
Do you want to make a difference? If so, we are looking for a commercially-minded individual with excellent communication skills to review risk, control and governance within a risk-based internal audit role. The role comes with mínimal travel.
The YTL group in the UK is growing fast, owned by a single family-based shareholder whose ethos of “building the right thing” through hard work, honesty and integrity runs through each company as its DNA.
The varied nature of the YTL group provides a range of opportunities to develop experience across civil construction, housing construction, plant, fleet, entertainment, hospitality and highly regulated water/sewerage sectors.
Internal audit is a small team reporting directly to the Group CEO, providing a service to each of the group companies, not only carrying out both planned risk-based internal audits and ad-hoc advisory work but also allowing a real influence on how things are done.
The nature of the team and the importance placed on audit in the Group provides individual members of the team with a high level of exposure to the board, executive and senior management.
Audits are carried out in line with the Internal audit standards and are reported to the Audit and Risk Committees, as well as engaging with the relevant Managing Director/CEO and Executive/Senior Leadership team.
What you'll do
**In this varied role, you will**:
undertake the approved internal audit programme using a risk-based approach, in line with the Internal audit standards
report the results of audits to the relevant Audit and Risk Committee, including the senior/executive leadership teams, and the relevant CEO/MD of that company
build and manage relationships across the group to understand and deliver a quality audit and assurance service
advise and work with the business to improve the risk, control, governance and efficiency of operations
undertake any ad-hoc reviews, investigations or audits as directed by the Group Audit Director
complete audits to the required budget, timescale and quality standards
identify and analyse the causes and impacts of high-risk exposures, control weaknesses, governance frameworks and inefficiency
develop, assess and agree on viable solutions to address the root cause of the issues identified
produce clear and concise board-level audit reports with agreed actions with management that reduce risk and/or improve processes
follow up audit actions to ensure that they have been implemented as agreed with senior management and impact and improve the business
undertake data analysis to proactively identify areas for compliance improvement
contribute to the audit universe, integrated assurance framework and annual audit programme planning process
provide administration duties and be the point of contact for all second-line audit teams across the company for the Metricstream audit system.
What you'll need
being a professionally qualified (CIIA, ACCA, ACA) auditor is preferred. However, a willingness to undertake the qualification (with the Chartered Institute of Internal Audit) will be considered. The cost of the apprenticeship training will be covered by the company
experience in either the construction industry and/or the water industry in a legal and regulatory environment is desirable
experience in risk-based audit work is essential
excellent analytical, investigation, critical thinking and report writing skills are essential
excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills to communicate with ease to non-executive directors, senior executives, managers and frontline employees is essential.
the ability to work at a detailed level, as well as being able to appreciate the wider business context is essential
experience in identifying sensitive issues and facilitating communications in a proactive and constructive manner is essential
good PC literacy including Word and Excel is essential
advanced data analytics skills are desirable.
What you'll receive
A combined pension contribution of up to 20%.
Career progression and professional development opportunities.
25 days' holiday rising to 28 with length of service.
The opportunity to buy up to ten days' holiday and sell up to five every year.
