**About Directorate**
Barnet Youth Offending Service (YOS) works with children and young people aged 10-18 years and their families to:
- Reduce the likelihood of young people re-offending
- Protect children and young people
- Protect members of the public
- Ensure that sentences are served The YOS is a multi-disciplinary team of professionals and volunteers that work together using their varied knowledge and skills to improve outcomes for children and young people.
**About the roles**
**Community Panel Member**
Community Panel Members meet with young people who have received a Referral Order. Parents/carers, victims of crime and members of the community have the opportunity to come together in Panel to discuss the offence that took place. The meeting is designed to support young people to take responsibility for their own actions and create a tailor made individual contract to support the young people to repair the harm caused through the offence/s and reduce their likelihood of offending in the future.
**Community Reparation Volunteer/Mentor**
Building a one to one relationship, where you act as a role model who encourages and guides personal growth by giving advice, motivation and support whilst a young person is completing a community reparation activity in a local community project. Your role would be to support the young person to carry their tasks and make it a valuable experience.
**About you**
Volunteers who want to develop their skills and knowledge in working with young people and make a difference when they enter the Criminal Justice System. There are a number of roles available, in which you can contribute and make a significant difference to the lives of young people and their families, as well as delivering substantial benefits to the community You do not need formal qualifications, your experience of life and your local community is important to us.
