Tams Brig Surgery, Ayr is seeking an experienced, organised, and compassionate Medical Secretary to join our administrative team.

Duties include but are not limited to;
- Managing the practice's clinical correspondence system, including typing letters, referrals, and reports dictated by healthcare professionals
- Processing NHS and private referrals to secondary care and specialist services
- Maintaining medical records and ensuring they are up-to-date and accurate
- Coordinating appointments for patients with external healthcare providers
- Answering telephone queries from patients, healthcare professionals, and other external organisations
- Supporting the clinical team with administrative tasks and projects
- Assisting with audit and quality improvement initiatives
- Managing the clinicians' diaries and helping organise practice meetings
- Ensuring patient confidentiality and data protection compliance at all times
- Required to communicate effectively and possess an aptitude for dealing with potentially difficult or demanding situations
- Covering other administrative roles as required

Essential Requirements
- Previous experience as a Medical Secretary or in a healthcare administrative role
- Excellent typing skills with high accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology
- Proficiency in MS Office and electronic patient record systems (experience with EMIS PCS preferred)
- Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to prioritise workload and work under pressure
- Excellent organisational and time management skills
- Understanding of patient confidentiality and data protection regulations
- Professional telephone manner and excellent customer service skills

Desirable Attributes
- Knowledge of NHS referral pathways and systems
- Experience of audio typing and medical dictation software
- Understanding of NHS quality standards
- Previous experience in primary care setting
- Medical terminology qualification

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: From £13.74 per hour
