**About the team**

This is an exciting opportunity to join our Commercial team within the Electrical, Toys Gifts and Beauty division. As a key player in what is often a varied and fast-paced environment, you will work cross-functionally, with touchpoints across our multiple category teams and the wider business. This dynamic role offers a unique opportunity to develop your commercial acumen, provide data & insight expertise, and play a key part in driving our future commercial objectives.

**About the role**

This role would suit someone who is inquisitive and analytical. We are looking for those with strong numerical skills, an eye for detail and who are always striving to create efficiencies and improvements.

As a Commercial Assistant, you’ll enjoy a breadth of responsibility, from working closely with our multi-product category teams to optimise trade performance, to providing insight across market trends, customer behaviours and business KPI’s to identify risk and opportunities. You’ll build and foster relationships not only within our division but across areas such as commercial finance, BI team, trade marketing and Financial services, to name a few. You’ll also gain experience in budget planning and report building, including exposure to Power BI and SQL. This role is a great opportunity to further develop your commercial acumen and build on technical skills.
- Collaboration with category teams and the wider business to identify commercial opportunities, providing insight and recommendations.
- Provide performance and trend analysis to supports trading decisions and enhance key KPIs.
- Preparation of weekly performance reports, collating and interpreting the information to share with the wider team.
- Responsible for department roll ups and trade performance updates.
- Creation and ownership of key departmental reporting, with opportunity to build technical skills in this field.
- Handling and management of large data sets to provide insight on market performance and key internal trading activity.
- Support Commercial manager in key planning processes such as seasonal budget planning.
- Support Commercial manager with investigative analysis and scenario planning to unlock commercial opportunities.
- Involvement in department and/or cross department commercial led projects and strategic analysis.
- Work closely with Commercial team to provide crucial Black Friday reporting and insight.

- Good knowledge of excel
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- Experience in handling a variety of data sources
- Problem solving/critical thinking
- Ability to prioritise and manage workload
- A great attitude and willing to learn
- Knowledge of SQL and Power BI would be advantageous, but not essential

**What happens next?**

You can expect a two-stage interview process for this position:
**1st stage**: A one-hour formal interview including CV run through and competency-based questions. This can be held either in-person or remotely.

**2nd stage**: Task based exercise. You will be provided with example data that we would like you to analyse and share findings during a short presentation. Data and guidelines to be provided ahead of the meeting.
