**JOB DESCRIPTION**

**JOB TITLE**:Kitchen Porter/Assistant

**DEPARTMENT**:Kitchen

**REPORTING TO**: Head Chef

**SALARY**:Above NMW/NLW

**JOB SUMMARY**: To ensure that all kitchen areas are maintained in an efficient and professional manner, under hygienic conditions to the standard required by the Company. Ensuring that high standards of customer care are displayed at all times.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

- To clean and clear all crockery, tea and coffee pots etc.
- To maintain the plate wash machine to a hygienic standard.
- To clean sinks, draining boards and surrounding surfaces.
- To keep floor areas free of debris. Use hot water.
- To soak mop after use to avoid deterioration and avoid smells.
- To empty refuse bins after each meal service or as required.
- To de-stain cups, teapots etc. on a regular basis.
- To ensure that personal hygiene and appearance are maintained to the standard required by the Company.
- Any other duties as required by the Head Chef or Management.
- This is by no means an exhaustive list of responsibilities. It is anticipated that this role may evolve and more responsibilities would be added to the current job description._

STANDARDS:

- To ensure that all relevant kitchen areas are cleaned to the standard required by the Company.
- To ensure that a high level of customer care is shown at all times.

LEGAL:

- Ensure compliance with statutory legislation, i.e.
- Food Safety Act 1990
- Food Safety & Hygiene (England, Wales & Scotland) Regulation 2013
- COSHH Regulations
- Health and Safety at Work Act 1974
- This includes operational standards of hygiene and practice, and the reporting of accidents, faulty or hazardous equipment.

HOTEL:

- To participate as part of a team.
- To attend relevant staff meetings.
- To attend relevant staff training sessions.

SUSTAINABILITY:

- Use every equipment on most efficient way possible, use lids, shut fridge door, etc.
- Ensure lights and equipment are turned off at the end of each service.
- Ensure the staff separate the food waste from the disposables.

UNIFORM:

- As per Company standards.
- Full uniform to be worn at all times.
- All uniforms to be neat, cleaned and pressed.
- Shoes to be low heeled, non-slip, closed in toe and heel.
- Leather or man-made fibre, not canvas or trainers.

PERSONAL APPEARANCE:

- Hair must be clean and concealed by a hat.
- Long hair tied back if below shoulder length.
- Nails must be clean, short, well-manicured and no nail varnish.
- No perfumes.
- Make-up should be discreet and natural looking.
- No jewellery except wedding ring and stud earrings. No watches.

**Salary**: From £10.50 per hour
