An opportunity has arisen for a dietetic assistant practitioner within the nutrition and dietetics department at Mount Vernon Cancer Centre. The post-holder will be expected to be an active contributor to the functioning of this dynamic, growing team.
The post is full time - Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week.
This role will help to support the dietitians to provide first-class nutritional care to cancer patients receiving chemotherapy and radiotherapy.
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic person with an interest in food, nutrition and wellbeing. You will be committed to developing your skills whilst working under the supervision of the dietitians.
The role is a combination of clinical and administrative duties within the Dietetic department. It would be an advantage to have previous experience working well as part of a team, and within healthcare and an interest in nutrition.
You will hold a mixed caseload of both inpatients and outpatients; whilst leading on the delivery of our 'Healthy Balance' clinic which is a healthy eating and wellbeing service for cancer patients.
There is an opportunity to present at staff induction days - introducing the Dietetic service and referral pathway and also at various patient support groups or staff training sessions.
You will also support the team by carrying out a number of service development projects, including audits and patient satisfaction surveys - both leading on and in conjunction with the Dietitians.
Our AHP team is growing rapidly within Mount Vernon Cancer Centre and you will be part of developing and supporting other services. This includes working in partnership/alongside a band 4 integrated therapies assistant.

- To write letters to patients using templates which have been completed by the dietitians.
- To liaise with home enteral feeding companies, nurses and patients/carers to ensure home deliveries for essential feeding equipment and necessary training is organised.
- Actively participate in and contribute to the functioning of the Nutrition and Dietetics Department e.g. in staff meetings.
- Be responsible for organisation of the filing systems and stock of patient information i.e. diet sheets.
