Fundraising and Supporter Development (F&SD) provides a fundraising and alumni engagement function in support of King’s College London. We are proud to work with colleagues across the university and its health partners to help them serve society through world-leading education, research and healthcare. Our work also includes a partnership with the Maudsley Charity in support of children’s mental health initiatives between the university’s Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience and the South London & Maudsley NHS Trust.

About the role

King’s is at an exciting point as we look to significantly scale up our philanthropic ambitions. We are looking for an excellent experienced Senior Fundraising Writer who is genuinely excited to tell engaging and powerful stories.

The Senior Fundraising Writer will work closely with fundraisers to understand the requirements for the delivery of written materials and will meet with clinical and academic colleagues to gather content for proposals. They will have the ability to think quickly and strategically in meetings with key stakeholders and will have the confidence to ask the questions that will ensure the creation of powerful and donor-facing narratives. They will turn around proposals efficiently with excellent attention to detail and will be expected to work on a number of different proposals simultaneously, whilst thinking innovatively and creatively about the way in which content is displayed and delivered.

This is a full time position and you will be offered an indefinite contract.

F&SD has a hybrid working approach, with a minimum of 40% of time in the office. Typically, this equates to two days per week, but we’re very happy for colleagues to be in more frequently if they so wish.

About You

Essential criteria
- Excellent written communication skills and ability to convey information to a range of audiences in a clear, inspiring and confident way
- Knowledge and understanding of fundraising and philanthropic motivations and of engaging with donors/prospects at a Principal Gift level (£3m+)
- Excellent grammatical and proofing skills
- Experience of researching content for communications
- Strong organisational skills with demonstrated ability to prioritise effectively and to successfully manage competing deadlines whilst maintaining attention to detail
- Ability to analyse, translate and present complex research and ideas into written form, in line with audience requirements
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to
