Solace Coffee empowers young people at risk or with lived justice experience through barista training, mentoring, mental health support, and real employment opportunities. As a volunteer Fundraising & Grant Writer, you will help secure vital funding that supports our mission, enabling us to deliver trauma‑informed barista training, holistic mental health support, and real employment opportunities. Your work will also help us open a dedicated training café—a safe, inclusive space where young people can gain real‑world experience, build confidence, and connect with their community. Responsibilities Write clear, compelling grant applications. Research and track suitable funding opportunities that align with our values. Support the creation of simple impact reports for funders. Qualifications Skills & Experience Excellent written communication skills to craft clear, persuasive and compelling grant applications and fundraising proposals. Research skills to identify and track suitable trusts, foundations and funding opportunities aligned with our work and values. Basic understanding of fundraising processes, grant cycles and reporting requirements is helpful but not essential. Experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) or Google Workspace tools. Ability to interpret data and impact metrics to support reporting. Comfortable working remotely and independently while keeping open communication with the team. Personal Qualities Passion for social change, particularly in supporting people impacted by the justice system. Empathy and respect for the lived experience of our participants and colleagues. Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and deadlines. Proactive and self‑motivated with the ability to manage your time effectively. Open to feedback and willing to learn and adapt as needed. Collaborative mindset—able to work well with a small, passionate team including people with lived experience of the justice sector. What You’ll Gain Valuable experience in fundraising and grant writing within the social enterprise and justice sectors. Insight into trauma‑informed, holistic approaches to youth support and social justice. The chance to contribute meaningfully to a grassroots organisation that creates second chances.
