**Job overview**:
We are looking to recruit an Assistant Psychologist to the Bury South Young Adult Mental Health Team. The team is based in Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk.
The successful applicant will be enthusiastic, motivated, committed to personal and professional development and able to engage with young people with complex mental health difficulties and their families. They will be working as part of a friendly and dynamic multi-disciplinary team under direct supervision from an experienced Clinical Psychologist and alongside other assistants and therapists.
**Main duties of the job**:
The remit of the team is to work with young people aged 16 to 25 years presenting with complex mental health difficulties and associated levels of risk. We take a systemic and recovery-oriented approach to understanding and working with youth mental health, incorporating therapeutic approaches such as CBT, ACT and DBT.
The post holder will work with children and young people and their families. Their core role will involve providing low intensity, structured interventions; supporting care coordinator’s with assessments; helping manage clinical databases; co-facilitating workshops and groups; supporting any clinical evaluation or audit; and supporting with clinical research. Experience working with young people or families would be beneficial.
The post is usually community based (although also working remotely currently) and may involve independent travel to often rural locations. The post holder will therefore need a driving license and access to a reliable vehicle.

**Detailed job description and main responsibilities**:
To carry out protocol based psychological assessments of patients, including
neuropsychological tests, self
- report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structured
observations and semi
- structured interviews with patients and others involved in their care,
under the supervision of a qualified clinical psychologist.
To assist in the formulation and delivery of patient care involving the psychological treatment
and/or management of a patient’s problems, under the supervision of a qualified clinical
psychologist.
Where required and appropriate, to assist in the coordination and running of therapeutic
groups, under the supervision of a qualified clinical psychologist.
Where required and appropriate, to prepare psychology reports, under the supervision of a
qualified clinical psychologist.
Where required and appropriate, to attend and contribute to appropriate multi
- disciplinary
meetings.
To discharge statutory social care functions as delegated under section 75 agreement with
Norfolk County Council for Service Users and Carers on behalf of the organisation (For Norfolk
Service Users only)
To provide appropriate health and social care interventions according to service users recovery
goals (For Norfolk Service Users only)
To assess health and social care needs as part of an integrated team, and
