**Maintenance Person Part Time - Chestnut House Care Home in Charlton Down near Dorchester**

**Hours: 40 Hours per week (Monday to Friday 0800-1700)**

Our home Chestnut House is currently being refurbished and we are looking for a Maintenance person.

**ABOUT THE MAINTENANCE PERSON ROLE**

Within your role as Maintenance Person, you will be working to ensure that our home is maintained to the highest of standards. Your responsibilities will include:

- Ensure that all the property remains in a safe and structural condition and that all utilities are fully operational.
- Ensure that all tools and equipment used are stored in a safe place for the protection and safety of residents and staff & ensure that the storage of all cleaning and dangerous materials conform to the Home’s COSHH policy
- Undertake gardening duties and tend to all gardens, including grass-cutting, shrubs and pruning, watering of hanging baskets & eradication of weeds,
- Ensure all gardens & surrounding areas are kept tidy.
- Complete mandatory and specialist training related to your role, on or off site as and when required to maintain, update professional knowledge and competence
- Undertake the painting of all external fencing and garden furniture contained within the homes gardens and to ensure the maintenance and repair (including painting) of all fences.
- Complete the various maintenance, fire and health and safety checks when required
- Carry out light plumbing, electrical and carpentry work, in line with skill levels and qualifications, as well as decorating.

***ABOUT YOU**

We are seeking an experienced individual who can share our very own family values would love to hear from those who really do want to make a difference to people’s lives
- At least 1 years’ experience as a maintenance person
- Have knowledge or understanding of a wide range of traditional building trades
- Knowledge or understanding of health & safety at work, particularly moving and handling techniques and COSHH assessments
- Have the ability to own issues to resolutions
- Have strong written & verbal communication skills
- Knowledge or understanding of the care sector
- A valid driving licence is required for this role
