Product Formulation Expert

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Formulation Expert to join our innovative and dynamic Product Development team. The purpose of this role is to use your science based, formulation expertise to play a leading role in developing cutting-edge new products and innovation. Focusing on Vitamin, Mineral, Herbs and Supplements (VMHS) and Beauty missions, you'll use your expertise to create high-quality and effective products that meet consumer demands.

- The Role:

- You will work as part of the product development team, using your science driven formulation expertise & understanding to shape the product innovation strategies and Own Label NPD strategic pipeline across Non-food categories (VHMS & Beauty)
- You will work with Product Developers to develop compelling product propositions and strong reasons to believe based on compelling technical insight, competitor and market knowledge - evaluating efficacy, safety, and suitability for formulation purposes.
- You will translate complicated science into easy to understand and compelling product benefits and claims
- You will work in partnership with the regulatory teams and product technicians, from initial concept to finished product, optimising the product formulations and claims
- You will partner with customer service and the learning & development teams to create new product training and communication for our store colleagues that will drive engagement and product performance
- You will keep up to date with the latest scientific thinking and consumer trends, spotting opportunities for innovation
- The Person:

- BS in Food Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Nutritional Sciences, or equivalent is required. MS/PhD is preferred.
- 3+ years of industrial experience, formulating in the beauty, VHMS, consumer healthcare and/or value-added consumer packaged goods industry
- Demonstrated experience delivering NPD at scale within beauty, VHMS and/or related nutritional products is required.
- Strong knowledge of formulation chemistry including an understanding of ingredient interactions, stability, and formulation principles. Working knowledge and experience of all key solid dosage format unit operations is preferred (tablet, capsules, softgels etc).
- Familiarity with regulatory guidelines and requirements governing the VHMS and beauty industry, UK & EU regulations, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
- Demonstrated expertise in partnering with both internal and contract manufacturing organizations is preferred.
