**The **Opportunity**:
Avantor is looking for a dedicated **Laboratory Coordinator** with outstanding communication skills to join our team based in Cambridge. In this role, you will assist in managing the day-to-day operations of an Oncology Bioscience & Pharma Sciences laboratory, including monitoring consumables and addressing any issues that arise

**_ Please note, this role is not operational and does not involve hands-on scientific tasks or research. Instead, you will oversee the laboratory space and operations, without managing a team of associates._**

This full-time, permanent position is based at our brand-new facility at The Discovery Centre, Bio-Medical Campus in Cambridge. **Working hours**: Monday to Friday, 9:00 - 17:00

**The Team**

You will work alongside 22 Laboratory Coordinator who support operational efficiency in the laboratory, serve as the point of contact for scientists’ queries, and undertake projects related to equipment, services improvement, and space planning. This role is part of our Lab and Production Services department, supporting major pharmaceutical companies and laboratories worldwide in the Research and Development sector of the Life Sciences industry.

**What we’re looking for**:

- ** Education**: A bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline or equivalent laboratory experience.
- ** Experience**:

- Previous experience at a senior laboratory technician level or above in a multi-disciplinary laboratory environment.
- Proven ability to partner with other teams and suppliers, delivering results in a matrix environment.
- Experience managing multiple internal and external partners/stakeholders.
- Excellent customer service skills and a collaborative work style.
- Knowledge of SHE requirements and GxP regulations.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office

**How you’ll thrive and create an impact**:

- Manage one laboratory’s operations, serving as the primary contact for scientists on materials flow, facilities maintenance, equipment availability, and process optimisation
- Maintain laboratory operational efficiency by coordinating with facilities maintenance suppliers and scheduling maintenance with mínimal disruption
- Resolve queries such as broken equipment, out-of-stock consumables, and alternative product sourcing
- Lead continuous improvement projects focused on equipment, change control, and optimising people processes
- Investigate deviations from Service Level Agreements (SLAs) through root cause analysis and accurately report findings
