The Opportunity
Avantor is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented
Laboratory Coordinator
to support our in vivo operations at our cutting-edge facility in
Cambridge, UK
. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the operational aspects of our in vivo laboratory space, ensuring equipment functionality, consumables availability, and a safe, compliant working environment for scientific teams.

  • This role does not involve performing scientific procedures or animal handling. It is focused on operational coordination within an in vivo setting, without direct line management responsibilities. ***

This full-time, permanent position is based at our Anne McLaren Laboratories ( 90 Francis Crick Ave, Trumpington, Cambridge CB2 0BA), Bio-Medical Campus in Cambridge. Alongside an attractive salary, we offer multiple benefits, including a bonus, pension scheme, private medical and dental care, and an additional day off for your birthday.

Working hours
: Monday to Friday, 9:00 – 17:00

The Team
You will work alongside 22 Laboratory Coordinators, who support operational efficiency in the laboratory, serve as the point of contact for scientists' queries, and undertake projects related to equipment, service improvement, and space planning. This role is part of our Lab and Production Services department, supporting major pharmaceutical companies and laboratories worldwide in the Research and Development sector of the Life Sciences industry.

What We're Looking For

  • Scientific degree/qualification or equivalent experience in a laboratory or research setting
  • Prior experience working in an in vivo facility, with a strong understanding of operational needs and compliance requirements
  • Background in laboratory or operational management, supporting scientific teams through service delivery and infrastructure organisations
  • Experience working in regulated environments (e.g, GLP, animal welfare legislations, SHE standards)
  • Experience in a customer-facing or stakeholder coordination role is highly desirable
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel

How You'll Thrive And Create An Impact

  • Lead the operational coordination of an in vivo laboratory space, ensuring optimal support for scientific teams and research activities
  • Act as the central point of contact for lab-related queries, resolving issues related to equipment, consumables, and infrastructure
  • Drive service delivery excellence by identifying and implementing process improvements that enhance efficiency and reduce downtime
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external vendors to manage equipment servicing, facility maintenance, and compliance requirements
  • Monitor and report on performance metrics (KPIs, SLAs), using data to inform decisions and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Ensure full compliance with health, safety, and animal welfare regulations through proactive risk management and routine inspections
