Community and Advice Coordinator
**The Role**:The Community and Advice Coordinator will be part of the team responsible on a day-to-day basis for developing the Front Room at St Luke’s and Welcome Club at St Mark’s as community hubs.
The main focus of this role will be empowering members of both Front Room and Welcome Club to solve the issues in their lives, working with them not doing things for them. This will involve promoting the projects, welcoming new members, facilitating member meetings and fundraising, and inviting in partner organisations, as well as involvement in establishing and delivering our advice service.
**The Front Room Club** is a café style drop in running from 9.30am to 2.30pm on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays at St Luke’s Downham. The club is for those who are experiencing or at risk of social isolation and provides a safe, welcoming and supportive place to grow. Providing a place to meet people, access support and advice, develop social and practical skills, and talk about mental health challenges.
**Welcome Club **is a place where everyone is welcome for company, community, warm space & food, open on Wednesdays & Thursdays 9am to 3pm and Sundays 11am to 3pm.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Coordinate welcoming people to the projects, including coordinating the welcome desk at Front Room
- Take the lead on helping new people to integrate into the projects
- Actively promoting the projects via social media and other means; and encouraging others to do so.
- Arrange and coordinate regular Member meetings
- Collect feedback from members and work with the whole team to act on it
- Invite support services and organisations to the projects
- Ensure that all members are able to access support when needed
- Restart our Money and Housing advice service through the Edge Network to assist people in addressing debt, accessing the right benefits, and with housing difficulties.
- Assist members with completion of paperwork and forms
- To develop our relationship with the Edge Network and Freedom Charity
- Explore expanding our services including opening hours and days - in particular looking at evening/weekend provision, as this is where there is currently a gap.
**General Responsibilities as Part of the Team**:
- Enable club members to take ownership of the club
- Keeping St Luke's and St Mark’s tidy and in good order
- Recruit and oversee the work of volunteers in the relevant areas
- Compliance with safeguarding and legal requirements
- To ensure that the projects integrate with all activities provided by St Luke’s Community
- Cooperate as a team with other staff and volunteers
- Check in with regular members and identify those who haven't been in for a while
- Participate in Session Reviews and collecting feedback for funding bodies
- Play a part in developing the Front Room into a locally based community hub that is accessible, affordable and provides good quality services, including a social space, advice, support and opportunities to contribute**.**
**The Person**:Most importantly the right person for this role will be in full sympathy with the aims of the St Luke’s Community project and work well with a mixed team of different faiths and denominations. They will also:
- Have patience and a good sense of humour;
- Have the ability and willingness to learn and adapt;
- Be able to maintain confidentiality.
- Know how to handle conflict
- Have good boundaries in their interactions with club members.
- Be able to identify and access opportunities for creative activities and partnerships with other organisations.
- Be organised and able to support people in filling in paperwork, accessing resources online, and keeping track of appointments.
**The Churches**:St Luke’s, Northover is part of the Catford and Downham Parish (Registered Charity 1142353) alongside St John the Baptist, Bromley Road, St Barnabas, Downham Way, and St Mark’s, Baudwin Road in the Church of England. During the week the churches play host to a number of community activities.
