Machine Operator

**Job Overview**

We are looking to recruit a experienced Laser Operator to join our team.

**Responsibilities and Duties**
- Set and operate Tube Laser, Flat Bed Laser.
- Working from Technical Drawings with steel
- Installing the correct programmes into the machine
- Prepare and load materials and components
- Inspect and measure finished components, recording results using in-process inspection sheets
- Reporting to their team leader with any queries
- Take a proactive approach to managing their own and others' Health & Safety
- Be flexible in their duties/responsibilities and perform other duties which reasonably correspond to the general character of their job
- Responsible for checking quality of parts produced
- Regular cleaning/maintenance of machines and work area
- Loading/Unloading parts and unused sheet steel and storing in an organized manner into relevant stillages by hand and/or by hoist/crane (when trained)
- Ensure machines and work area around the machines are safe, clean and free from obstructions
- Confirm that work produced meets quality and technical standards
- Perform routine maintenance and house keeping.
- Unloading steel and store in a safe manner using a forklift truck.

**Qualifications and Skills**
- You must have experience of setting and operating Laser machines
- Previous experience operating a profile cutter is preferred
- Experience of machining a variety of materials
- Ability to complete ongoing quality documentation, maintaining communication with team leader, manager and quality operatives
- Understand basic measurement principles
- A strong mechanical knowledge and experience in working with sheet metal
- Must be able to work collaboratively and on own initiative.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office

**Experience**
- 4-5 years experience as laser operative (required)
- Ability to accurately follow processes and procedures
- Desire to progress and improve skill set/fix
- Hard working with the ability to complete tasks under pressure
- Strong work ethic
- Strong understanding of machining processes, tooling, and materials
- Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality parts
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
